Week 23

We spent last week visting Chad’s parents in Houston, TX.  Chad and I stayed one night at a very nice bed and breakfast downtown: La Maison In Midtown which I would highly recommend to anyone looking for a place to stay in Houston.  The prices were very reasonable and it was so much nicer than staying at a hotel.  We wandered around Midtown and the Art District and found this awesome wall.  Even though I was sick most of the week with some sort of cold/ flu thing we still had a great time with family and we got to swim at least once a day everyday in his parents awesome pool!

Week 22

Week 22 was pretty uneventful.  Feeling pretty good as long as I eat in the mornings.  Also note to self: drink lots of water.  I don’t know why I get so busy in the morning and forget to hydrate.  It always gets me and I know I need to drink a lot.  I usually take care of Ada’s needs first then get around to mine eventually but I need to keep reminding myself that if I am not healthy then I can’t properly take care of my family.  My needs are important too!

Anyways, Chad took these photos and I love the lighting.  We just happend to wait until right before sunset and the sky worked very nicely as a giant soft box.   Magic.

Week 21

On our way back from Door County, WI we stopped in Chicago for the night.  Let me just say shopping is not very fun down Magnificent Mile with a hungry 2 year old- I mean duh right?!?  I should have known better.  🙂  We shopped for a bit when we arrived in Chicago, then ordered some take out pizza, took it back to our hotel,  ate, relaxed, and watched the fireworks shot off from the Navy Pier out our hotel window.  While waiting for our pizza my dad took week 21 photos.  I will say, the next day my mom and I took Ada to the park and just hung out and played all day and we had a great time.  Overall I am glad we made the quick stop on the way home.

Bells is always pumped to go shopping for her school clothes. Heres some easy, comfortable, and affordable styles to send your babes back to school in.

DIY: Painting Table and Chairs

I bought my table years ago. It was actually my husband and I’s first big purchase together.   It was totally on trend at the time. Bar height, square table and chairs. Over the years, I have grown so tired of the look, especially the finish of the wood.  This table has fed my family for years.  Seen all three of our homes, and us bringing all our babies home. And It continues to welcome more people to it. Not wanting to get rid of this sentimental piece, I decided to give it a little make over.  I needed something that I could easily work with, and it could be a quick and easy job.  With three babies you are trapped with a in certain time frame.  Always on their schedule. After some research I found this product Annie Sloan Chalk Paint.

Its so easy to work with. No stripping paint, no sanding, no priming. All I did was wash breakfast from that morning off of it, and the dried up glitter the table has collected over the years, and started painting. For my chairs I used the color French Linen. The first coat I used “X” marks.  I also didn’t use a lot of paint.  My first layer was super thin.  It allowed my dry time to be faster.  The goal is just to get the piece covered with no drips.

After its dried completely.  Put the second coat on just like you did the first. Repeat this process as many times as it takes for you to get the look you want.  I only did two coats.  After the chair was the color I wanted, I took “Duck Egg Blue” and lightely outlined the edges of the chairs.  I let it dry just a little, than wiped it lightly with an old cloth rag. table8

When all the paint is dry, you need to seal it.  The Annie Sloan Waxes are just as easy to work with as the paint.  I used the Clear Wax, and I highly suggest the Annie Sloan Wax Brush.  I just put a little wax on the brush, and rubbed it on the table in circular motions. Then I wiped it gently with a rag.  Let it sit and dry, and then add another coat.

Its that easy folks! The new paint has completely transformed my dining room.  Its like having a brand new table.

Week 20

We went with my family and my sister’s husband’s family to Door County, Wisconsin last week.  We had a blast riding bikes, hiking, eating and walking around all the quaint little towns.  It was so relaxing and we spent some great quality time together.  Ada had a blast and was the life of the party all week.  I think our favorite thing was riding bikes: Ada didn’t want us to stop after 10 miles.  She kept on saying she wanted to go faster.  I also loved the Cherry Stuffed French Toast at The White Gull Inn.  It was delicious. These photos were taken by my sis at her husband’s family’s home.  Their backyard and garden was magical and so relaxing.

Week 19

We found out 2 weeks ago that your brain and heart look healthy, that you are a major wiggle worm, that you have 10 fingers and 10 toes, and that you are a girl.  We are all so excited for Ada to have a little sister.  Ada is already talking about her baby seester and lifting my shirt up to talk to her.  Luckily this hasn’t happend in public yet.  Here are Week 19 photos taken by my lovely husband right after our ultrasound on Nashville’s pedestrian walking bridge.  Brittany’s youngest daughter Eva says you can see “Paris” from the bridge.   🙂   It’s definitely a must see when you are in Nashville.

Last Days of Summer

The end of summer is sadly upon us. Knowing our days of warm weather are numbered, we packed up the kids and took them to the Nashville splash pad at Riverfront Park…even with the threat of storms. Lucky for us the skies cleared up and the sun came out.  The Hollow was all ours. The babes loved every minute of it. It has everything kids love:  water, grassy hills to slide down, a teeter totter, and sand. It’s clean and has a great view of the Nashville skyline.  Not to mention it wears the babes out so they take super long naps…and who doesn’t love a super long nap. Worth every bit of energy to get there. The kids are already asking when we will be back.  Hopefully soon.

Announcement!

What better way to start off a new blog but with a belly bump series!  Yes one of us is pregnant.  But who?  😉  Lets hope it’s not Britt bc we all know she doesn’t need any more right babes right now (but she does make pretty cute ones).  She’s just going to have to hold mine when she gets baby fever.   So yes I’m pregnant.

I took photos every week when I was pregnant with Ada and felt some pressure from friends and family to do it again this go around.  I really just use that as an excuse to take them. 😉 I really do love looking back and remembering where my body started and ended up on my pregnancy journey, so if will be fun to have them again this time.  So here it goes.  I started taking them when I was 18 weeks pregnant, due New Years Eve.  Party!  Side note:  disregard any profanity you might see on the train behind me.  My sis took these for me and we were having so much fun hanging out on the tracks pretending we were little kids that we failed to see all the terrible things painted on the train.  I tried to not use those pics and crop the ones I did use so you couldn’t really tell.  Haha ooops.
